چکیده
We consider how vectorial aspects (polarization) of light propagation can be implemented and their origin within a Feynman path integral approach. A key part this scheme is in generalizing the standard optical length from scalar to matrix quantity. Reparametrization invariance along rays allows covariant formulation where take place general curve. gradient index background used demonstrate scheme. This affords description classical imaging optics when polarization may varying rapidly cannot neglected.

The Feynman path integral approach to atomic interferometry. A tutorial
Many problems of current interest in atomic interferometry lend themselves to a path integral treatment. We present a practical guide to solving such problems, taking as examples the gravitational experiments of Kasevich and Chu, and the atomic equivalents of the Sagnac and Aharonov-Bohm effects.
متن کاملA Rigorous Real Time Feynman Path Integral
where φ, ψ ∈ L, H = −~ 2m ∆+V (~x) is essentially self-adjoint, H̄ is the closure ofH , and φ, ψ, V each carries at most a finite number of singularities and discontinuities. In flavor of physics literature, we will formulate the Feynman path integral with improper Riemann integrals. In hope that with further research we can formulate a rigorous polygonal path integral, we will also provide a No...
متن کاملAn alternative formulation of classical electromagnetic duality
By introducing a doublet of electromagnetic four dimensional vector potentials, we set up a manifestly Lorentz covariant and SO(2) duality invariant classical field theory of electric and magnetic charges. In our formulation one does not need to introduce the concept of Dirac string.
متن کاملFeynman Path-integral Approach to the Qed 3 Theory of the Pseudogap
In this work the connection between vortex condensation in a d-wave superconductor and the QED3 gauge theory of the pseudogap is elucidated. The approach taken circumvents the use of the standard Franz-Tesanovic gauge transformation, borrowing ideas from the path-integral analysis of the Aharonov-Bohm problem. An essential feature of this approach is that gauge-transformations which are prohibi...
متن کاملA Rigorous Real Time Feynman Path Integral and Propagator
Abstract. We will derive a rigorous real time propagator for the Non-relativistic Quantum Mechanic L transition probability amplitude and for the Non-relativistic wave function. The propagator will be explicitly given in terms of the time evolution operator. The derivation will be for all self-adjoint nonvector potential Hamiltonians. For systems with potential that carries at most a finite num...
